Derby College Group (DCG) are looking for a highly motivated teacher/trainer-assessor to join our excellent Level 1 & 2 Animal Care department at Broomfield Hall. In your teaching role, you will be required to deliver high quality, inspirational teaching which encourages learners to reach their full potential, promoting progression on to higher level courses or preparing them for careers working with animals.
The Opportunity
As part of the Animal Care team, in the role of trainer/assessor you will be responsible for delivering practical sessions on the animal unit, mainly to ensure achievement of qualifications for students. As part of your role, you will deliver practical sessions to students from Entry 3 to Level 3, teaching and assessing them on the practical aspect of their curriculum. In addition to that, you will be involved in open days, interviews and other responsibilities in line with the curriculum needs. Up to date knowledge and experience of Animal Care is essential.

About you
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in small animal health, husbandry, health and safety and employability in the animal care industry. You will have the ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to contribute to maintain above average success rates in this area, using innovation within your teaching and assessing.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of providing outstanding support for students and be flexible, self-motivated and dedicated to student achievement and quality. Up to date knowledge and experience of animal husbandry including the handling, feeding and behaviour of animals is essential. Experience of teaching and delivering the City &Guilds Technical certificate in Animal care at Level 2 is desirable and up-to-date industry CPD and experience is a requirement.
