Do you have a passion for land-based industries and a commitment to maintaining high standards in workshop environments? East Durham College is looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operation of our Arboriculture and Land-Based Engineering workshops.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain practical workshop areas, tools, and machinery
Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation
Support curriculum delivery through technical assistance and resource preparation
Supervise and support students and staff in workshop practices
Monitor inventories and manage procurement within budget
What We’re Looking For:
Level 3 qualification (or higher) in a relevant subject area (e.g., Arboriculture, Land-Based Engineering)
Strong practical knowledge of Health & Safety standards (PUWER, COSHH, LOLER)
Experience maintaining machinery and tools
Effective communication and organisational skills
A proactive, team-oriented individual with a hands-on approach
